Printer Streaks - Test the Pattern Before You Guess
Streaks can be continuous, periodic, channel-specific or caused by contamination. The shape of the defect matters.

Start with a controlled print
Random photos and documents do not contain enough known geometry to measure reliably. Use the diagnostic sheet first.
What Printer Vitals can see
Printer Vitals is strongest at horizontal banding and broken pattern elements. Smear and contamination marks are outside the current automated diagnostic scope.
When to stop cleaning
If repeated normal maintenance does not improve the measured pattern, follow the manufacturer guidance rather than escalating cleaning cycles indefinitely.
How to run the test
- Print the official sheet at 100% / Actual Size, Color, Plain Paper, Normal quality.
- Place the full sheet on a dark surface in even light.
- Take a sharp photo with all four paper edges visible.
- Upload it to the browser analyzer.
- Make one conservative change, then retest using the same settings.
Scope: Printer Vitals is optimized for color inkjet output. Results are measurements plus probable causes, not a guarantee of the exact failed component.
