Printer Printing Blurry? Separate Print Blur from Photo Blur

Printer Vitals does not assign a blur score to photographed text. A slightly out-of-focus phone camera can make a sharp print look soft, so this page uses the analyzer only for checks it can measure reliably.

1. Compare the controlled sheet with your normal document

If the test sheet's geometry and line patterns look normal but one document is blurry, check the source image/text, application settings and print resolution before repeatedly cleaning the printer.

2. Rule out unintended scaling

Use the geometry result to check whether the controlled page was resized, rotated or offset. Reprint at Actual Size before judging fine detail if scaling was enabled.

3. Look for line or channel defects that resemble blur

Broken line elements or a severely weak channel can reduce apparent edge definition. Those are measurable on the controlled pattern and have their own troubleshooting routes.

4. Use the printer's native diagnostic if the blur remains

Canon's inkjet troubleshooting sequence for blurry/fuzzy output starts with a nozzle-check pattern and proceeds through model-specific cleaning steps when the native pattern is not correct. Follow the equivalent instructions for your own printer model.

Important limitation: a clean Printer Vitals result does not prove that fine text sharpness is perfect. Fine-focus measurement is outside the current analyzer.
